Happy Birthday Mom!
A huge apology to my mom...I forgot her birthday yesterday. That's not entirely true, because I knew it was coming up and I thought of it while at the hair salon with Kyra yesterday afternoon...but then it slipped my mind entirely. Somedays I don't know whether I'm coming or going! These last few days before school starts are even more hectic. So mom...you know I love you and I will make it up to you...promise!!
Speaking of back to school. My house is a disaster, but it's not on the priority list today. I have a list a mile long and not anywhere on there is cleaning! We need school supplies, some last minute clothing items, I need to pay bills, go to the bank, drop off medicine at Kirby's school, take back overdue library books, possibly change Kyra's schedule to drop french (although she's leaning towards taking it now), get Kyra's ears double pierced, and more that I'm forgetting right now. That's why I made a list! LOL!
Speaking of Kyra...look at her new hair!
Ok, I'm off to get this list completed. I have a new kit in the store if you want to check it out...I'll post images later!
Oops, I ignored my blog again!
Mmm...just finished up an iced green tea lemonade from Starbucks. So refreshing!
Ok...what's new with me? I was doing pretty good on the weight loss thing, until I broke down and started eating junk food...funny how one will lead to another and another and another...until you don't even eat the healthy stuff anymore. Thankfully I have the CSA from the farmers market forcing me to eat lots of produce. I want to invest in a better blender so I can make green smoothies every day. I noticed when I was drinking those, the cravings for junk food went away completely. I also felt so much better.
Speaking of feeling better. I hurt my back early last week. At first it was just a twinge on the lower right side. Something I've had on and off for a year. Then it got worse...much worse. By Thursday I was in so much pain and my muscle was so spasmed that I knew I had to go to the Dr. They gave me pain meds and muscle relaxers and talked about physical therapy and possibly epidural blocks and surgery down the road (ACK). The medicine worked great for about 24 hours, then I got sick...really really sick! I felt like I had morning sickness and riding a roller coaster at the same time. I stopped taking the meds and have tried taking it easy and doing lots of stretching. I find walking helps and sitting at the computer or kitchen table makes it much worse. So, I'm on a scrapping and design hiatus. I'm hoping it will be better next week and I can get back to creating.
The other big thing that happened was that Cameron and the boys went to Chicago for five days. They left last Wednesday morning around 7am and got back Sunday night at midnight. (my mom is sure that my back pain was from stress) I had planned on doing a bunch of projects around the house, but my back got in the way of that. Kyra also had musical theater camp that week. The boys trip went well...they all had fun and came back with lots of photos. I surprised Cameron by uploading his photos to Walmart and getting one hour developing. He's using my old camera and now I remember why I upgraded...all the shots are a bit blurry and foggy looking. Oh well. Kirby and Ky also got tons of photos and video clips. Baseball games and a card show...a great "guy" trip!
I will leave you with a few layouts I did the end of July while I was ignoring my blog! :)

How to spend a lot of money in one day
It was a gorgeous day out. The temps were in the high 70's with a nice breeze. I wish I could have been outside all day, but eh...always something else to do.
Started out skipping my morning walk to talk to my husband who is finally home for a day off after two weeks of straight working. Then he went to bed and my mom and I hit the farmers market. I grabbed some spinach, baby cucumbers, local honey, and mulberries (a first for me). Then starbucks and back to the farmers market for a cooking demonstration which never materialized. I did however decide to break down and buy a CSA share. Now I'll get a bag of fresh veggies every week for the rest of the summer. I'm pretty excited!
Then we decided (against better judgement probably) to check out the humane society and see if any those cutie pie puppies were left. Nope...they were all adopted. That's probably a good thing. After checking out the kitties (and getting an itchy hive from a kitten nip on the finger) we left without a puppy.
I went home and did some cleaning....don't worry, nothing too strenuous :)
The kids and I walked a few blocks to a neighborhood rummage. Kyra bought a bag of junk..I mean treasures, and I bought a couple of boxes of jars for organizing or altering. We saw a cute desk for Kylers room, but I wanted to go back with Cameron.
After Cameron got up and got ready, we went to check out the desk and it was gone. :( Then we went to Walmart to get Dani's birthday gifts. We never got her a graduation present so we went all out for the 18th birthday. Got her a Ipod Nano, a bunch of accessories, a flip video camera, and $200. Maybe a bit much?? But we are done paying child support and I felt like celebrating!!
She came over for supper (pizza) and cake and watched "Fun with Dick and Jane" on TV. I just finished scrapping a page and now I'm ready for bed! I had a bit of an upset tummy after eating pizza and cake (imagine that!).
I'll leave you with my layout. (everything from Tracy Ann's barefoot kit)

Hot Hot Hot
I walked out the door this morning at 8:30 and was almost knocked down by the heat and humidity! It was stifling! Ky had a dentist appt. to get a cavity filled. He needs some gas to relax him because he has a wicked gag reflex. The regular dentist even has trouble getting her hands in there to check it out. Turns out he needed another crown...same tooth as last time but on the other side. He did great and didn't even ask for pain meds all day.
Since it was so hot, we stayed inside. My van was running on fumes or I would have considered shopping at the mall or a movie (both were probably packed today). I did some cooking, some reading, and some scrapping. Nothing too earth shattering. I walked on the treadmill this morning and again this evening with Kyra. My speed has really picked up...my route takes less and less time each time I walk it.
Can someone come clean my house? Every time I get a room cleaned we mess it up again within hours. Especially the kitchen...I'm preparing food a lot more often now...chopping produce, whipping up stuff in my blender and food processor. It's always a mess!!
So, my mom showed me this puppy this morning at the humane society and I can't stop thinking about him! My mom hello'd me later to say she still wanted him, but she'll let common sense rule and not go get him. Don't you just want to stroke those silky ears? awww!
dood...good thing we didn't bet! LOL!
Ok...so I've missed a few days. I am finally done with birthdays!! Yippee! Ky's birthday was yesterday. The boys, my mom and I went shopping and lunch at the mall. The boys got a ton of webkins! But the best news...I got a Wii Fit!! Here's the bad news. Kirby loves it so much he's been on it for 2 hours. He's going to be sore tomorrow! I did get to play a little bit and I think I'm really going to like it. Especially this winter when it's hard to get outside.
Kyra also had her last summer singers concert last night. Next summer she'll have summer school and probably a job so there may be just as much transporting, but not to sing anymore. Haley is in SS also and so Scott was in the audience next to us. He was making faces at Kyra and driving her batty. She finally had to look at the ceiling so she couldn't see him!
Will was funny today. He was rubbing his eyes and said "I have something in my eye". Then he said "it's my man". I said what??? thinking maybe he meant the sandman. He said it was his little man in his eye...."you know, like yours" I said "I have a little man in my eye?" He said YAH (like duh Amy).
So, I'll leave you with a layout of the little stinker. But you can bet there will be a layout about a little man in his eye soon!
