Lazy days of summer!!

Today it felt like summer.  It was hot and humid and downright nasty outside.  So, we stayed in and did a lot of nothing!  I slept in til 10, had breakfast, walked on the treadmill, did some laundry and hung out a lot on the computer.  Kyra was bored, but we honestly couldn't think of anywhere to go or anything exciting to do!

I did make a super cute altered pair of flipflops to hang on the wall or a door knob (haven't decided yet).  I was about to take a picture when I noticed I had left my camera on and the batteries are dead.  So, I'll post pics tomorrow.

Cameron called and said they may be coming back into town tomorrow morning, which means we'll see him for a couple of hours in the afternoon instead of waiting until Tuesday evening.  This new job is really ticking Kirby off.  He doesn't even want to talk to his dad when he's home...you can tell he's mad that there isn't much ball playing, and hanging out with dad time.   The fact that they worked through their day off yesterday did not help!  Cameron said he'll probably only be on this job until his vacation on the 20th, so that's good.  Then he's off for 2 weeks and the boys are going to Chicago.  That should be interesting!

There's no place like home

It was a great day.  I started by getting up early and walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes.  Then I whipped up a bowl of apple chowder and headed to the Farmer's Market with mom.  I bought a box of strawberries, swiss chard, snow peas, basil, and a cauliflower.  Then we headed over to the other Farmers Market  and I picked up some summer squash and yellow beans.

After coming home, lunch, and doing a little housework, the boys and I picked up mom and went to Walmart.  She asked if I wanted to spend more time with her and asked if we would come over for supper.  So I went home and made a potato salad and we headed over to her house.  Dad finished the deck and had just purchased a new table and chairs so the boys helped him set it up while mom and I worked on food.  It was almost chilly tonight!  Silly July weather!  But it was still so nice sitting outside to eat and play cards.  Even their dog Grady was being well behaved.

I scrapped yesterday!  This is with the new Songbird Avenue charity kit with Dani Mogstad.  Very fun summer kit.

Happy 4th of July!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July!  It was a laid back day for the most part.  Cameron was at work, so no big plans.  Mom and Dad took me to Sams to pick up some produce, then we hit Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.  I grabbed a pair of flip flops and three pairs of socks for $1 total!  They were in the dollar spot at Target but then it was 75% off!  Can't beat that!

Came home and putzed around for a few hours, when Kirby told me he had been throwing up.  He fell asleep and I was wondering if we would even get to see any fireworks!  Thankfully, when I woke him up at 5:45 he was feeling better.  We went back over to Scott and Wendys where my dad grilled tequila lime turkey tenderloins and sesame ginger turkey tenderloins.  That with the leftovers from Haleys birthday party made for a super easy supper.  Then we headed out to the west side of town to see the big fireworks.  There are several parking lots that make great viewing areas...we found an up front row at Sunshine.  My favorite firework tonight was this humongous gigantic waterfall type...I couldn't stop myself from applauding, it was gorgeous!!  Oh, speaking of gorgeous...the weather was divine.  It was a beautiful day and it cooled off just enough to almost be chilly, but not quite.  Beautiful!

I have some new stuff up in the store.  The July BYOC turned out so great!  Make sure to check out the entire collection because the other designers did an amazing job!  Kim Christensen is the guest designer and so talented and a sweetie as well.  We are loving her at the pad!!

And that's it for me.  I'm headed to bed and then tomorrow...farmers market!  Yay!!!

Happy Birthday Haley!

Another birthday is completed.  My niece Haley turned 9 today.  She is the teacher of the group, the smart, witty, bossy, creative leader of the cousins.2635012437_288a996853_o.jpg

Her party is always held in Scott and Wendy's garage.  Scott grills burgers and hotdogs, there is a kids cooler and an adult cooler, the neighbors drop by, and we finish off the evening with fireworks.  This year for the first time ever we were shut down by the police!  No ticket, just a warning.

I have no big plans for the 4th of July.  I'm considering it a day to rest and recoup from the week!  My mom invited us over for supper which sounds wonderful.  Then we'll have to brave the crazy traffic on the other side of town to check out the fireworks.  It just wouldn't be the 4th without them.  I remember that Kyra came home from the hospital on the 4th of July and Mom and Dad drove the two of us out to the fairgrounds to see the fireworks when she was just 2 days old.  Wow, does time fly!

Happy Birthday Kyra!!

2632275359_517f927cdd_o.jpg

15 years ago, this amazing girl came into my life and I can't imagine what I would do without her.  She's wickedly funny, beautiful, down to earth, a bit wacky, independent, and has taught me so much about being a mom.  I'm a bit sad thinking that I have four more years of high school with her and then she'll be off into the world.  My only hope is that she will be as close to me as I am with my mom.  She once told me "you know mom, don't expect me to talk to you as much as you talk to grandma when I grow up"  I'll remember that when she's moved into her first place and calls me every few hours with a new question.

We had a nice day.  We've already had 2 parties so it was just Grandma, Kyra, and I for a day of shopping and Ruby Tuesdays for Lunch.  Actually, not a day (more like 3.5 hours).  I had the kids and Kyra had summer singers rehearsal this morning.  Then we had to cut the shopping short because Kyler had a baseball game and Kyra had a Summer Singers concert at the outdoor amphitheater.  I took Kyra and her boyfriend to the concert (he's been begging to go with us to see her sing...so sweet).  Grandma and Grandpa took the boys to Kyler's game.

Funny story about the concert.  Wendy and Will were there to watch Haley sing.  Will was taking pictures with Wendy's camera...sorta.  He would put his fingers over the lens every time, he'd place his cheek up against the viewing screen instead of looking into the view-finder, and he took lots of blurry pictures of peoples backsides, my cleavage, and Dan.  He got a good picture of Dan and smiled so big, then turned to Dan and said "I take another picture of you?".  Then after each song that Kyra sang he yelled really loud "Good job Kyra!!!" "YAY Kyra!" then we told him to yell "Happy Birthday Kyra!"  She didn't hear him, but everyone around us was laughing.  He made the concert much more entertaining!!

oooh...I got up for another walk this morning, I may make it a habit.  My lower left side of my back is killing me though, I should try different shoes next time.
